This project was to create a parody of a song of our choice. The intention was to help us grow in our skills within Pro Tools and have fun while being creative. I think I have learned a lot about Pro Tools through this project, which was initially a challenge. As Pro Tools is a professional grade music software, I found it difficult at first to figure out the layout and how to use different tools and while I’m still far from mastering it, I do feel much more comfortable with the software. This has been one of my favorite projects so far in Digital Media here at Freestyle because I’ve grown up loving music. I was excited when I heard we were going to learn how to use different music production software and now that I am more familiar with it, I plan to try and use it to create some of my own tracks.
Overall, I am happy with the end result of this project. If I were to improve it, I would normalize the vocal track to ensure my lyrics were louder and more understandable. I’ll keep this in mind as I continue working in Pro Tools. One benefit that came from it was the opportunity to see what goes into creating the songs we listen to in our day to day lives. I had always thought it would be fun to try and this gave me a pretty good idea of the difficult but fun work that goes on behind the scenes.
